Editorial Assistant @ Biteback Publishing

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills: first-rate proofreading and knowledge of the BSI proofreading marks, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, excellent attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, and a good knowledge of current affairs. He or she must have experience within and knowledge of book publishing. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign software will be an advantage.

Publishing Assistant @ Maverick Arts (Sussex)

This is a starter role and would suit someone wanting to enter the world of publishing. No prior experience needed but would be beneficial. Good writing and reading skills are an advantage. Must be confident using computers and learning to use new software. The assistant would be involved in all areas of the book publishing process.

Office Administrator @ Kuperard Publishing

Applicants should have excellent attention to detail, good communication skills and a high standard of English (preferably, as their first language). Applicants should be able to demonstrate their ability to multi-task, manage a wide variety of projects, ensuring processes are followed and deadlines met.
Applicants should be numerate with strong IT skills and experienced in using all MS Office programmes, especially Excel.
Previous experience in an administrative role is essential. The role will expand and develop according to the candidates capabilities.

Rights Assistant @ Hachette Children’s (6 months)
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Rights and will need to be a team player with an eye for detail, the ability to use their own initiative and strong organisational and time-management skills. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers and in-house colleagues. Fluency in one or more foreign languages would be an advantage. Excellent PC skills and an effective email and telephone manner are essential.

This role will suit you if you pride yourself on your organisation skills, you’re proactive and have excellent admin skills. You’ll be able to manage a busy workload and pick up new systems quickly too.

We do need some office administration experience and a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office. An interest in educational publishing and a bit of creative flair for sales, marketing and design would be an advantage, although not essential.

If you’re looking for a support role you can really get your teeth into, and you’re curious about developing international markets, this could be your perfect job.

International Sales Assistant, Asia @ PRH

To do this role well, you’ll need strong administrative skills, including knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.

Persuasive and engaging communication and presentation skills will come with the territory as will strong commercial acumen, numeracy and analytical skills.

Prior experience in a sales or commercial environment would also be a plus.

Publicity Assistant @ Ebury

Ebury are looking for someone with exceptional communication and organisational skills in order to respond flexibly and positively to a busy workload and multiple deadlines. You will be comfortable on the phone, with excellent and confident interpersonal skills as you will be communicating regularly with authors and members of the press.

This role will suit a real team-player who is keen to get stuck in and learn the ropes with a pro-active approach to their work, and a can-do attitude. You will be social media and IT literate, show meticulous attention to detail and be able to prioritise under pressure.
