Children’s Communications Assistant @ Macmillan Children’s Books

Executive Assistant @ Orion & Little, Brown

Publishing Administrator @ Orion

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up titles and contracts information on the Biblio publishing database, taking responsibility for the accuracy of data feeding out to external websites and ensuring that data on Biblio is complete, correct and timely. Editorial Assistant @ Michael Joseph

This role will be providing editorial support to the Publishing Director and fiction Editors at Michael Joseph, as well as supplying administrative support across the team.

Journals Publishing Assistant @ Wiley (pulled from SYP) (yeah i posted this last week as well, but for some reason it’s back with an extended closing date)

This is an excellent opportunity to start building a career in the publishing industry. You’ll be liaising with internal colleagues at all levels and will receive strong support from a highly skilled and very friendly team. Your colleagues in publishing will rely on you for excellent administrative support in the management and development of established journals. Your responsibilities will range from dealing with enquiries, to drafting reports, to organising and minuting meetings. Crucially, you’ll also help to enable and support strong relationships with our clients. That means you’ll play an important role in helping our business to grow and remain the top publisher of society journals.

Together with a degree, to join us you’ll need experience of using the Microsoft Office suite of programmes. Wiley also look for a good understanding of what’s required in an administrative working environment. Equally confident working solo and as part of a team, you’ll have the initiative and organisational ability to prioritise your own workload and meet every deadline. A strong and confident communicator, both in person and in writing, you can work well with people at all levels.

A renowned publisher of university textbooks, with particular focus on English Literature, Economics and Psychology titles is looking to appoint an Academic Sales Representative. You will promote and sell their textbooks and online materials to universities and bookshops in the UK and Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with some publishing experience or an experienced Sales Assistant/Executive who wants to further develop their career. The role will be office based in central London, when not travelling, and you will join a small and friendly team (if I’m right, then yeah hella friendly).

International Sales Assistant (Spanish) @ DK IPL

Responsibilities will include: liaising with internal departments and customers, drafting contracts, sending materials to our publishing partners, invoicing, maintaining forecasting systems and databases, tracking titles through the production process and resolving any problems that arise. Whilst providing support for Sales Managers, the Assistant will have the opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of the DK business and publishing list.

The candidate must be sales-oriented and fluent in spoken and written Spanish. Knowledge of another language would be an advantage. The candidate must have initiative, strong organisational and interpersonal skills, be motivated by the challenges of a sales environment and have a desire to develop a career within sales. The candidate must be willing to travel if required.

  1. I’ve already had a phone interview for the Wiley job, and I am doing the follow-up video interview in a bit! I didn’t even think I would get this far as this was just a speculative application. Apparently, if I pass the video interview stage, the next stage is an assessment day at the end of the month with the other applicants, and one of the things that we’ll do is interview one another! 😮
