Me again, here to be annoying. As well as Chloë’s ace selection above, I’ve just had an email from the lovely Katie at Modern Books. They have a marketing and editorial internship available, which is a cool opportunity to learn a range of stuff! It lasts four weeks and is unfortunately unpaid, but apply if you can. Full details below!

We have an internship available for graduates within Elwin Street Productions’ editorial and rights departments. Elwin Street Productions are the parent company of the imprint Modern Books. This combined internship offers the opportunity to gain insight into two exciting and challenging areas of book production.

On the International Marketing side, the internship at Elwin Street involves liaison with our major publishing partners around the world, supporting our International rights team. Duties include liaison with publishers, printing and sending out sales material, organising sales trips and book fairs and assistance with rights negotiations. Second languages useful, particularly Spanish.

On the Editorial side, the internship at Elwin Street Productions involves undertaking a varied and diverse workload on a number of different projects. Duties include conducting initial research on new projects, author hunting, picture research and writing/proofreading briefs for synopses. Experience of InDesign useful and will mean a greater editorial involvement.

We are looking for candidates who are organised, professional, computer literate (Mac), and able to handle a busy and varied workload. Please note we are a small office and you will be expected to contribute as other staff to general office administration such as answering the telephone. Some office experience preferred.

Internships last for the duration of 4 weeks full-time. Hours are generally 9.30-5.30pm but can be flexible. The internship is unpaid; travel expenses for up to £50 per week will be reimbursed.
