08/05 Jobs

FYI, half the vacancies from last weeks post are STILL open, so make sure you check that out too!

Editorial Assistant at Bradt Travel Guides

This is based in Chalfont St Peter, Bucks (where ever that is) but still feel I should mention. Bradt are one of the leading guidebook publishers in the world, and they’re looking for a new editorial assistant. The role includes everything from database management and photo research to checking text and maps, writing cover blurbs and assisting with Bradt’s social media platforms. They want someone with good time-management skills, the ability to juggle several balls at a time, a strong eye for detail and immaculate written/verbal skills (all of this will be tested during the application process! Obviously if you love travel then that’s a bonus too. Apply by sending your CV and cover letter to Managing Editor Claire Strange (claire.strange@bradtguides.com). Closing date is midnight on Friday 27th May 2016.

Publicity assistant at Abrams and Chronicle

Maaaannnn I want to apply to this! The super cool Abrams & Chronicle books are looking for a new publicity assistant and it could be you! Ideal candidate: good understanding of the media landscape, be an excellent communicator, with strong organisational skills, an eye for detail and a ‘can-do’ attitude. Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have good time-management skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Experience in a similar role is highly desirable although candidates with administrative experience or work experience in publishing, the media or a PR agency may be considered. If that sounds like you, and you want to spend your day creating press campaigns, assisting with author events, sending mailings, writing press releases and pitching ideas, then send your CV and cover to jobs@abramsandchronicle.co.uk. by the 18th May.

Education and marketing assistant at Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury are after someone to work on their education titles across their primary and secondary school markets. The role seems pretty hefty so have a look in the link above to see if its for you. They want someone who can organise themselves efficiently, who has a keen eye for detail, and knowing the school market would be advantageous! Apply to Sally Coleman sally.coleman@bloomsbury.com by 22nd May.

Contracts Assistant at Hodder and Stoughton

This literally sounds like the worst thing in the world to me, but hopefully it’s right up your street?? Far too high pressure and important, I’ll still to publicity thanks. ANYWAY if you do want to become a contracts assistant at H&S, then some of the tasks you’ll be doing include admin support for the department, processing permission requests, drafting licenses and contracts and lots of other completely horrible sounding things (KIDDING! I’m sure it’s not that bad). Apply with CV and covering letter to recruitment@hachette.co.uk.

Production Assistant at Harper Collins

This is a 6-9 month maternity cover contract, so an amazing chance to get some experience at one of the biggest and brightest publishers. The job spec is above, and my takeaway has just arrived so I don’t have time to list it all here, go and have a look!! They want someone with experience in book production (boo) and only specify a-levels as a required education (yay!) Apply to Stephanie Hall Stephanie.hall@harpercollins.co.uk
